PCHC first community health center in RI to adopt Epic electronic health record
Following a year of planning, training, and hard work, Providence Community Health Centers has become the first community health center in Rhode Island to go-live with Epic, the most widely-used electronic health record in the world. The October 7th launch of the new system was made possible through the partnership of Providence Community Health Centers and Health Choice Network, a leader in the integration of health information technology among health centers and safety net providers.
For patients, Epic means better access to their health information and improved communication through our new patient portal called MyChart. Patients will now be able to message their care team, see their test results, access their medical records, and more. For healthcare providers, the Epic EHR automates many tasks, freeing up time for healthcare workers to focus on patient care and better communication.
If you are a patient who would like to enroll in MyChart, please ask at your next in-person visit or click on the link here. Our former patient portal – MyHealth – is no longer available but your previous health records will be part of MyChart.
“The one-year journey to implementation was a worthwhile one,” said Merrill Thomas, President and CEO, Providence Community Health Centers. “For all users, Epic means a platform to develop new solutions and technologies that can improve patient care and streamline operations. Thank you to all our team members who took on this historic challenge for one reason: to improve patient care, coordination, and communication. We look forward to sharing the Epic experience with our patients!”
