Taressa Jones recognized as DAISY Nurse Leader Award honoree
Congratulations to Taressa Jones, BSN-RN, who was recognized as the DAISY Nurse Leader Award honoree at a surprise ceremony on March 26. Taressa, Assistant Health Center Director of our Atwood Health Center, joined PCHC as a staff nurse in 2019 and has progressively taken on increased responsibility during her five years with our team.
“I am so humbled and grateful to receive this award,” said Taressa. “I share this with my whole team at Atwood and all the people who have been supportive of my growth at PCHC.”
The DAISY Nurse Leader Award was created to shine a light on those who do not typically have direct patient care as part of their work and those who create an environment where compassionate, skillful care thrives. PCHC also recognizes the compassionate care provided by nurses as they care for patients and family members with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.
Taressa’s nomination read, in part: “She has shown compassion, built mutual respect and trust with providers and staff to support the development of our care teams, and modeled what it truly means to be supportive. Taressa has launched a number of initiatives that have led Atwood to the highest satisfaction scores on ‘how well the team works together’ in our most recent patient satisfaction scores.”
“My fundamental approach to working with my colleagues is through empowerment and support,” said Taressa. “Many studies have proven the relationship between healthcare staff well-being and patient well-being – happy and healthy staff equals happy and healthy patients. My patient care philosophy is to lead with nonjudgmental empathy to establish trust.”
As the awardee, Taressa received a Healer’s Touch statue, a special DAISY nurse leader pin, flowers, and a gift card. Congratulations!
